Why should I join crescent choirs?
There are so many reasons. We offer vocal training and teach choral excellence all while having fun. Our team of artistic directors are experienced choral specialists, trained in conducting, voice, piano, composition, music history and theory, and music education. Most importantly, Crescent Choirs is a like a family. Our singers build meaningful friendships and connections with one another in a respectful and loving community. They develop teamwork and leadership skills, as well as discipline. We believe that singing is a joy that is meant to be shared with the world; our goal is to share with as many people in the White Rock + South Surrey community as possible.

If you want to improve your music reading abilities, you can sign up for our Musicianship class.
What styles of music will I sing?
We select a wide variety of music across different languages and styles: classical, folk, spirituals, pop, show tunes, world music, and newly commissioned compositions. Here are a few examples that the Youth Choir performed in the 2017/2018 season:

City of Stars, from La La Land
Amavolovolo, a South African protest song
Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel, an arrangement of the African-American spiritual
And So It Goes, an arrangement of the Billy Joel song
What can i expect at my audition?
The Youth Choir audition is an opportunity for the director to get to know your voice, and hear the range in which you are most comfortable singing. You can expect to sing some vocal exercises and maybe a short song.
Prospective Luna Vocal Ensemble singers may be asked to vocalize, sing a short song, and do ear-training and sight-singing exercises.
